Excellent photo, Kevin. Her tan skin contrasting with the washed out shorts does pose a difficult challenge. Might try different shorts, first off, but you could probably recover it in RAW. Another thing you might try in a later shoot is using a diffuser panel just to block off a little bit of light from the softbox from the lower half.

edit: Also, I'd like to see a bit more detail in the background. In the upper right corner, it begins to darken. I think if that gradient went from corner to opposite corner, she'd really stand out.

Great shot, only imperfection being the white washing of the arm. I think my idea of the dark gradient filter might work here. Allowing you to maintain the bright vibrancy of her face but garner more contrast and definition on the sweatshirt.

Superb job on her face though....looks very professional. (Nice to know you took this with the lens I just bought. ;)

I think the red is not her color, try yellow or perhaps a dark purple...yes that might do it...

Nice light on the face, nice pose. Only thing I see is her shorts to the back ground seem to blend in.(her right) If the grey corner at the top was at bottom, more like gradient. I think it would help.

Who gave this a 10? Someone(s) out there are more empathetic (or gonzo) than they realize. I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach when I shot this. The locale and the sense of lonliness I felt (perhaps from having our group all split up to shoot) probably contributed to the mood I felt when shooting. When I reviewed the shot and started screwing with it I got the same feeling when I hit on this version of the image. Maybe 4 other people out there have been walking through a cemetary or someplace and had a solemn sense of lonliness and this just brought it back for them. I completely get that this was supposed to be an attempt at "capturing and emotion" and not "evoking an emotion" so I pretty much expected this score. I'm surprised to see 4 other individuals who had a "10" kind of reaction.

If it worked for you then great. Thanks for the votes.

color is way to saturated, too much blur. It is obvious that you wanted to focus on the flowers, but the blur effect is too distracting. Maybe have more focus and switch to bw except for flowers
