You need to straighten the horizon and it would be more effective if the subject was not centered but off to one side.

In my opinion you should have rotated it to get the horizont horizontal, not the bank of the sea. The skew water looks strange and unnatural in the background. The idea is very nice, but if you put him a very little more left (and a bit more of the sky), I think this could be a very good shot to present the rule of thirds. A little bit improve would make this an excellent one I think (as a beginner).
