Weathered and Beatenby zackdezonComment by yanko: Judging by your edit and your title I am going to assume the texture of the rock face is what you found of interest. If so getting closer would have helped here, IMO. By zooming out you make this rock face appear more flat and you lose the sense of the texture and the depth it has. Other than that this is a pretty compent shot. In terms of your PP work I would get ride of those dark halos that your edit produced. If you have photoshop use the stamp tool for this. Just set it to "lighen" mode and then on a duplicate layer sample an area right underneath the dark halo and then paint over it and it should disappear. Just FYI, if you have a white halo you want to remove just change the mode to "darken" instead. Message edited by author 2008-07-29 20:16:44. |

Kiss Meby zackdezonComment by vxpra: I think this would've scored much higher with both the face and the rose in sharp focus. The idea behind this is very good. Maybe some fill light into the face to help "blow out" the whiteness. |

Kiss Meby zackdezonComment by lovethelight: The concept you have experimented here is interesting and different, however I feel that the photograph is weaker on the technical side in that the rose seems out of focus and the textures on the skin seem a bit unnatural. You have also divided the picture almost in half and the balance of the photo seems off.
That being said, the technical issues create an uncomfortable dynamic which I feel is supposed to be there, seeing as she has a dead rose. So even though the processing style does not appeal to me you have created a very unique, strange, different photograph here. I appreciate that you went beyond the exhausted pretty picture of lips or pretty picture of flowers. |
