Appears I may be dating myself. Hoagy Carmichael was born in Bloomington, Indiana in 1899 and attended Indiana University where he earned his Law degree. His main interest was music and he is known as a composer, songwriter, performer, and actor from the 1920's into the 1960's. Among his songwriting credits are "Georgia on My mind", Heart and soul", "Up a Lazy river", Old Buttermilk Skies", "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening" (for which he received an Academy Award in 1951), and "Stardust" (for which he is probably best known). He appeared in 14 movies including "To Have and Have Not" and the Academy Award-winning "Best Years of Our Lives". He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971. He died in California in 1981. Although he had spent most of his life in Hollywood, we was buried in Bloomington, Indiana at his request. The bronze statue in the photo was placed in 2008.

Hoagy and Rose, they just lasted for a while, mmm mm mm mm mm mm mm, mm mm. Oh, no, that was Harley and Rose. Just kidding, but that song was what instantly came to mind. Great piece of sculpture, and the hand is just made to have something popped into its grasp.
