Gator! by fldaveComment by MaryO: Great patterns in the water. The only time we see alligators around here is at the zoo or when someone decides their pet is too big and releases it into a local lake. They don't last long in the lakes; much too cold most of the year. Animal Control gets to catch 'em. I do get a kick out of the signboard at the shelter saying: "back room - one dog + puppies, 4 feral cats, 1 gator" ;-) |

Gator! by fldaveComment by scooter97: The water is really nice and sets the Gator off. Interesting to know that you can tell the age of a Gator by it's nose! |

Gator! by fldaveComment by fldave: Originally posted by jomari: Is that the human or the gator population count? |
That is actually the human population, but wouldn't be surprised if there were nearly as many gators around there. Buckhead Ridge abuts Lake Okeechobee, the largest lake in Florida. |

Gator! by fldaveComment by jomari: Is that the human or the gator population count? I'm glad we don't have those here. In northern Australia they have crocodiles which are worse, but that is far, far from here (Victoria). The beautiful water in your pic looks like it could be in a swimming pool. Gator! by fldaveComment by MelonMusketeer: I could tell that this one was a young one by the smoothness of it's nose. There are a lot of these around this area too. |

Butterfly.jpgby fldaveComment by jomari: Lovely shot. The butterfly is beautifully positioned and his colour and that of the flowers make the image rich and warm. |
