The spoon and action induced blur in the nose make this feel out of focus. It appears a camera mounted flash was used blowing out the details in your puppies face. It is very difficult to avoid elongated features and get a balanced photo when taking a shot at arms length, although you pet seems to appreciate the attempt.

It would be better to step back, use a telephoto lens to draw in your subject and use a faster shutter speed to eliminate the blur. Side lighting as opposed to a camera mounted flash will add depth. Good luck.
