Towards a New Lifeby wei1108Comment by HeiSch: fantastic job telling this story. focus on the man, keeping enough details in the background to tell the story. even reducing the colors for support is a good choice. |

Towards a New Lifeby wei1108Comment by Jaaronclifford: it doesn't seem like you took advantage of the advanced editing, but the 'as seen' look adds something kinda real to this. I really like it. |

Contemplationby wei1108Comment by rooum: Absolutely stunning portrait. So much character and emotion. The pose with the hand beneath the chin adds a huge amount to the shot. The almost low-key lighting and processing is perfect. Fabulous. My favourite in the challenge and my choice for the Blue. 10. |

Contemplationby wei1108Comment by Dr.Confuser: This photo has a very high emotional payload which I quite like. The eyes are a bit creepy. What's going on with the earring? And the glimpse of the white collar. The low key. Feels like John Malkovich! A fine photo I'll be watching for in the top 10 in the voting. |

Contemplationby wei1108Comment by Paul: OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: My what an interesting portrait, served well by excellent toning and great background bokeh. A face that is full of character too. I also think the composition is pretty good (though I may have been tempted to shave a little off behind his head).
Critical stuff: Although the toning works well, the coloration had a slightly jaundiced look, especially the whites of his eyes - makes me want to send him for an abdominal CAT scan
Overall: The overall result is very accomplished. |
