Tranquil Morning in the Grasslandby wei1108Comment by tanguera: Exceptional portrait, but I feel like something is just off. I don't think the centered composition is the best for this image - the entire left side could have been cropped to the horses and made the composition more dynamic. I also wonder about the desat. The rich colors of his vestment may have been more compelling in full color. |

Tranquil Morning in the Grasslandby wei1108Comment by Yo_Spiff: Grog haggle with old man. Trade female for strong horse. Grog say he drive hard bargain and was Grog's favorite female. Grog lie. Man lie too. Horse not strong at all, but good meat and provide more meals for tribe than lazy female that not want to cook. |

South African boyby wei1108Comment by adigitalromance: Very nice shot. The bright light on the left side of his face is making the right side look darker. This shot might be improved by equalizing that a bit. Still, nice DOF and composition. |

Ivory Coast GIrlby wei1108Comment by HarveyG: There is something about using B&W on dark skin that just makes a portrait more powerful. NG seldom use B&W, in fact I've paged through a number of their mags dating back a decade and have yet to spot one. Can't for the life of me picture one in my head. Those saucer sized eyes give me the feeling she has been abused, or displaced. Empty. It's a great study but is not telling me enough just by looking at it without the benefit of an article. 50/50 if it would be published or not. |
