i like the perspective.

one thing i would recomend is not wearing the bracelet and watch. they shine and draw my attention away.

nice shot overall.

This is a very busy photogrpah with lots going on and lots of colors to catch my attention. i think it helps very much and works well with the repetition found in the image. the three large orange lanters, the lanters in the background, the cut out's on the railing. I think all of these are important. The image seems a little washed out in the brigh whites, on the building in the back and on the speakers... and the blacks don't seem quite black. perhaps it is 1/2 stop too light. I think the two speakers on the right are a bit distracting. They are a very odd shape (compared to the rest of the picture) and odd color, and if it were me i would crop them out. Interesting colors, and a very active shot.

hope this helped, and remember it is only my opinion.

Very nice; I really like this kind of "found" shot, lifting the mundane into something altogether different. I would almost prefer it without the concreteness of the sign, but that's a personal thing, I think.

Comment by Whiskey:
True indeed, 111 seems quite harsh, I personally loved the photo, thought it was very creative, much more than my own submission, but I guess that is what is great about photography, so many different interpretation on the same image. Either way, nicely done.

111th? Cruelty. I gave it a 9 and I don't think that was enough. Maybe the stars were not in your favour.

You've used the light as a graphic element - that's both daring and artistic. Good luck in the challenge. I'll give a 6 because, although I'm not overly fond of this image, you deserve it.

This has a soothing affect. Nice capture. I like the hint of sunset reflected on the water.

**critique club**

When I first saw this during voting, I thought, 'how English'. As a Scot, you can imagine what I felt.

Actually, as a photograph, I like it. It's well balanced, has a clear subject, shows the theme very directly and successfully, is exposed beautifully and is in sharp focus.

I have no problems with the composition. That the human is walking away is more appropriate to a generalised scene than the other way around. And that co-ordinates with the colour scheme - evening, coming home. Colours overdone? Not for me. Just fine and dandy.

I'm afraid that I'm not going to offer much in the way of constructive criticism this time. That's because any problems I have with this shot are my own problems, not with this shot. I'd have given a 7 had I voted. (Maybe some brightening on the dog's coat would have helped a bit. And not obscuring the head with the building might have cleared up some visual confusion.)

If you have any comments on this critique, please feel free to contact me.

Best wishes,

Jim
