This has an excellent feel to it, almost '70 feel. I don't have a critique.

very good photo but the lighting needs a minor adjustment to be more balanced, one side of his face is almost blown out and the other is too shaded

Nice lighting - interesting composition. The floresecent-like lighting makes it more believable.

Love the pose and expression! Have to think about the harsh lighting some more, it's unusual, but somehow it seem to fit. One of the best portraits overall - 9

Comment by doctornick:
Lighting is way too harsh, a -1 FEC or the addition of a small backlight could have worked better.

Hi from the Critique Club!

From a confirmed chocolate addict, the only choice I see here it to eat them now or wait until later! :)

I think the concept of this photo is great for choices. The idea of having the hands there is a unique idea, and I think it's done pretty well. I just don't know if it really adds anything to the shot.

I would have liked more emphasis on the candies, and less on the box and the hands. The focus on the candies themselves seems just a tiny bit soft (it appears the camera focused on the word "time" on the box lid). I think the shot might have been more effective with a solid color background (vs. the woodgrain counter) and a closer and sharper focus on the candies.

I think with those adjustments made, the addition of the hands might have been good and more interesting.

I hope this has been helpful!

Like the composition and the lighting in this image.
The more unusual approach of lighting from low level, throwing shadows upwards has added impact to the picture.

Good light - good control of exposure too - highlights are just in control, shadows have detail but still look like shadows. Good character in the face, though perhaps getting him to focus on the top of the page would have made the eyes feature a touch more: they're a bit too closed here, I think.

i like this a lot. i don't know if it IS a good portrait though - it seems too not posed really, but then this could be testimony to your models fine acting skills, and he is posing a non-posing pose. i adore the colours and greeny-whites; did it come out of the camera that way? all the colours have the same tone to them, like the suit jacket and the background. i think this is great - 9
