I think I remember your saying you weren't going to win a blue any time soon? ... many congratulations, long overdue my friend.

Edit ... checking your profile, it looks like this was your 100th challenge entry. Some way to celebrate the century Jon.

beautiful image - i was actually looking through your work the other day and thinking that with all the beautiful images, you must be due for a ribbon! i especially like the blue tone and how the bridge leads you into the picture. congrats!

It's interesting - because I'm a purist too, but for me the light pollution over London is impure. My aim on this shot was to present the subject in a way that was more aesthetic - emulating a sky with no ugly neon glow.

Interesting. I only preferred the submission because of the detail in the bridge rails and the fact that they show more sky through them. Also, St Pauls is larger and more detailed in the frame.

Lens was my 17-85mm IS.

I`m with Neil on this Jon,maybe cropping a little off the left of the image to where you had the original but including everything else, makes
it even more dramatic for me.

Incidentally, what lens did you use for this shot ?

Hmm... it looks completely different afterwards, from a purist perspective I think you should've kept the original.

Love the 'smoggy' feel to this picture: the colour you've achieved is much more interesting than the usual sunset photos.....and, yes, I too like this even more than your winner!
