Dreamingby TiberiusComment by tsheets: You mentioned in the forum post "it's nothing spectacular". The question is "what would make it spectacular?" (not that I actually know what I'm talking about). I think Shadow has a good point...nothing to settle on...it's a very busy photo. I think the lighting is one thing that could make a dramatic change in this shot. It looks like a very bright day, and the tree trunk that is "washed out" kind of draws your attention to it at the egde rather than in for a deeper look at things. I Can't tell if this is a flash going off or direct sunlight near the bottom, and shade as you go up. If it's sunlight, maybe a reflector to shine up the trunk and onto the leaves would help. |

IMG_4092.jpgby TiberiusComment by twm122: I agree, absolutely beautiful POV. You did a great job. I can not believe you were stressing so much about equipment. All it takes is a great photographer to capture those moments so matter what equipment you hold in your hands. Beautiful. |

IMG_4110.jpgby TiberiusComment by twm122: This one is beautiful. I agree about the NI. There is nothing wrong with the natural beauty of a persons face and the surroundings and noise. It is part of the experience, your experience and can only enhance the images. |

Dreamingby TiberiusComment by shadow: hi Tiberius, i read your post in the forums, and here is my reply. for me, the photo doesnt really have an interesting spot for my eyes to "feast" upon. when i look at the photo, the eyes rolls all over the photo without any area to pause or capturing my interest. all the time, i've been looking at photos mostly by feel. but lately, helpful people have pointed to me things like dynamic range, 9step rules. i think these 2 can greatly enhance a black n white photo such as this. there just isnt enough details in the shadow or higlights (maybe you disagree) but thats just what i felt. i checked your profile, you make great photos, maybe this one just didnt really cut it with the voters. |

IMG_4134.jpgby TiberiusComment by Jinjit: too clean and NIed.... you loose all details of the roses.
Try use the history brush on teh roses along and return some noise back to them. Or try adding a bit more contrast only to roses, or burn only the shadows of them with a very small burning amount (like 5% or even less). This might also help retain some of the details back.
Other then that I really like this composition and am now feeling very sorry for not shooting one at my brother's wedding!
