This has great lines, lighting, patterns, etc...fun to look at. I like how the shadow diagonal at the entrance matches the overhead diagonal line. Only weak spot for me is the subject...there's wonderful framing, but of what? The stairs as I understand it from your title. This would be thru the roof if you had a person in the alley, maybe sitting down just before the stairs. Just a thought and all JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge.

The moody street makes a great frame, but it really doesn't frame anything interesting. There seems to be a figure on the stairway, but it's too far away to make a really great focal point.

This is what the challenge was supposed to actually be about. The light and shadows pull the eye in and then ask you to look around, check out all the nuances. I love this submission.
