Congratulations on your top ten finish for an excellent shot that fulfils the challenge well.
You're absolutely right, they are very well built models that on first glance are so convincing they are easily mistaken for the real thing, even with closer inspection they are still very plausible. The only give away is their proximity to each other they would be much further apart if they really were freely at anchor.
Having the landscape behind adds very effectively to the illusion of reality and together with the mist it also adds atmosphere to the image. I love the reflections and the slight rippling of the surface this again contributes to the overall result. Your exposure is good with detail throughout. Your attention to detail in cloning out unwanted debris has paid off we have an end result that we can concentrate and appreciate without unwanted distractions.
A very pleasing image deserving of its high placing, well done, Sid |

You Name It!by codfish709Comment by sidpixel: *Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*
A competent image that meets the challenge
What a fun challenge this was, free reign for anything you want without having to rack your brains for a title which has generated tremendous response from the viewers, win, win! A fun image that is generally well executed with an appealing simplicity, however that same simplicity is a little marred by the bar at the 10 o'clock position that is catching the light in a distracting sort of way. The other problem for me is the staple, I just don't understand it, I can't see any logical reason for it.
I think a square crop would have suited it better it would have removed the space above that makes no contribution to the image as a whole. Your lighting is illuminating the ball nicely but spilling over to give an unevenly lit background.
Ok, so time for a title?
Let me be your squeeze
Well done for submitting a good and original concept, Sid. |

Catching Rain Drops in the Snowby codfish709Comment by cowboy221977: Hello from the critique club...
Better late than never on this critique right. Interesting take on the challenge. I think it should have placed higher just because it is a very creative shot. There are some distracting light specs in the water. This tells me that maybe a different light setup or different time of day would have been better. Also I am really not sure about the sky/clouds. I think a bit distracting. I love the frog. He kind of made me chuckle. Happy shooting. |
