Quiet spot in loud placeby zeoliteComment by Pug-H: It's a portrait of a city, which I think is perfectly acceptable given that "N/A" was all that was given for the challenge description. And it's a black and white picture.
It's the first time I've looked at this picture, and I've learnt something new - big buildings in New York are much narrower in depth than I imagined them to be. (And is that The Dakota in lower right?) |

Quiet spot in loud placeby zeoliteComment by kelbelle: okay meanies, listen up. some people on this site are:
1. new photographers who may not know even the simple lingo like the definition of 'portrait'
2. people who speak English as a second or even third language.
3. young and innocent
4. so excited about entering a picture they don't realize the exact requirements
5. worthy of gentler comments.
Please remember that you might hurt someone's feelings, causing them to put their camera down and be afraid to pick it up again.
Please, don't just harshly criticize or call someone a 'timewaster'. There's no cause for that. People are trying to learn here... |

Quiet spot in loud placeby zeoliteComment by shamer: Both 'Portrait' and 'Landscape' can be so loosely defined that their boundary lines are indeed blurred - I'm guilty of this as well. It helps to title it such I think, like: "Portrait of a quiet spot in a loud place." Maybe...
Anyway, it's a bit soft, but I'll chalk that up to jpeg compression. Unfortunately, the focus itself seems to be the buildings so your title seems to betray an ignorance to the challenge. If this truly is a portrait of the quiet spot, you've done an injustice to it by virtually leaving it mostly out... Perhaps I'd have been convinced if the image was mostly trees, or park bench, or sidewalk with a hint of buildings in the background.
Sorry to sound so rough! The image has its merit, just not for me in this challenge... << 4 >> |
