Pipes and Pumpsby wetlandComment by Paul: OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: A nice study in grungy pipework and the coloration is well suited to the subject matter. I like that you haven't lost the sense of depth amongst the 'clutter'.
Critical stuff: The amount of intrinsic interest in the scene is fairly low - many voters will skip by at a rate of knots.
Overall: A nice rendition of this scene but one that might not hold the viewers interest for them to explore the scene fully. |

Bluebird of Winterby wetlandComment by colorcarnival: These birds are so pretty. Are their claws blue tinted like that too or is that a result of increasing the saturation? Love how it is posing for you. |

Pipes and Pumpsby wetlandComment by littlegett: This room has so much potential for great photography. However the dreamy effect used here does not offer it. It appears to have a slight blur on everything and does not pop like I would expect it too. The mid-range contrasts are extremely flat and offer no depth of character with all that texture. |
