overall, this is a well done photo, but the only thing that bothers me is the focus is on the raspberry instead of teh cherry that is in the front. lighting, colors and everything else are really executed nicely.

The focus here seems a little weird to me. I generally find it a bit weaker to focus on the midground of a still life. Sometimes it can work, but I think it looks just a bit awkward. The composition is also pretty busy. I can understand the need to make it interesting, but don't try to hard to throw stuff in. The lighting, however, and I really like how the colors came out.

This looks great - I love Tartes aux Fruits. I possibly would have had more of the same tarts in the background - that green cubey sweet distracts me a bit.

Hey Maggye, here is my CC on this shot.
The water ripple is beautiful, perfect. However the alignment of the ducks is a bit unattractive. I know you have little control on what wild animals do, but perhaps a little more patience would have paid off in this shot. I personally would have liked to see both ducks in the water, or facing each other. Show some interaction or intimacy between them. Show something that conveys emotion. The fact that one is looking at you and the other seems to be staring to nothing doesnt move me much.

The lighting is perfect though. Just the position of the ducks. I also like the reflections which attributed to the good lighting.

Good job. 5.4 is not bad at all for your first challenge. I hope you keep entering more and like most of us learn and improve. :)

Nice shot, seems quite sharp. Lighting is very nice as well, which adds a whole lot to the shot. It could benefit from a little bit of a tighter crop. Things that appeal to the voters are shots that have a "wow" factor. while this is a very solid shot with all the basics right on, it lacks the pop to force voters to give it the higher marks. Messing with the cropping could add a lot as well. Really though it is a very nice shot and you nailed a lot of the technical aspects, keep up the good work. I look forward to watching your portfolio.

Lovely
