Trevi fountain at duskby rhadshawComment by tosk: I like the balance of colours that you've achieved here. The light is gorgeous - I'd love to know how you achieved the effect. I know what you mean about the tourists and in fact, you have precious few of them here, which is impressive all by itself. This sure is a major tourist trap. Unfortunately, it's a bit difficult to see the water, which is too bad because it's nice to get more of a "fountain" feel to the picture. Mind you, this is an enormous structure so it's difficult to get everything in from top to bottom.
I'm divided on the angle. Part me likes the angle of the photo because it gives some visual interest and a spark of life to the photo. Part of me would prefer that the fountain & building were level, I'm not sure why.
I really like the tones of blues mixed with the gold tones. |

Somber Observanceby rhadshawComment by loseme: Greetings from the Critique Club
Nice finish on a new second personal best! Wow you are very good with architectural photography. Thanks so much for taking the time to fill out the details about this photo. It is wonderful timing that you were able to capture the sun peaking through. The light defiantly effect specific tones of the photos, that I think are drawn out through the monochrome treatment. The composition is good, I like that you angled the photo as you saw it instead of trying to crop out to much or straighten it.
I really like this photo, I hope you printed a nice big copy for yourself. I am sorry you didn't receive some quality comments. I hope you stay inspired and continue to share your artist style, through these wonderful pieces of architecture.

A long, cold wait for the busby rhadshawComment by MelonMusketeer: This is a good idea and the overall shot is very interesting to me because the place is so different from the Florida scenes that I see daily.
I like the leading line zig zag in the left lower corner, and the way the light plays to the brighter center, as well as the starring of the lights from the f11 aperture.
It's an interesting scene, and photographed nicely too.
Try tungsten white balance sometime when you shoot nights in town where the sodium lights are orange. It also works great in the country side with moon light, and results in a sweet blue sky at night. |
