Thanks to everyone who commented.

The glare is a problem, I agree, but no angle I did this at avoided it entirely and I hoped it being off the label and liquid themselves would help a bit with that.

This was taken in a patch of rocks underneath an overhang and some stairs, so daylight really didn't reach in, hence the flash. I didn't want to walk around carrying an open bottle of liquor or I might have taken it down the street to the next closest patch of rocks. We're kinda short on landscaping rocks around here, alas.

It's centered on the rocks because I wanted the rocks surrounding it and because I wanted to not show the wall behind it, which is boring and ugly. I did have a couple off-center pictures but you could always see the wall or not read the label, so I ended up picking this one. I suppose I could have cropped the wall out of one of the other ones, maybe that would have worked better. Or just cropped this one differently. I like to avoid big crops personally but I should probably get over that. (I did crop this, mostly to get rid of my foot, heh, but it was a very small crop (I think it was just my heel you could see -- oops).)

It's Amaretto specifically, if anyone wondered, because I think the bottle itself is very pretty.

Also, thank you to the 7 people who represent my first votes above a 6. :)

Cute play on words here, but the picture itself doesn't do much for me. Maybe it's the lighting or the dull colors. I think with some brighter rocks and better lighting, this might have turned out more fun.

Well, the colors of the "contraption" are interesting and provide for some interesting contrasts... but the overall image needs a little help, I'm afraid. The overall image is blurry with no particular area being in full focus. The bar at the bottom and the window on the right seem to act as distractions. And I'm honestly not sure how the sign fits in with the rest of the shot.

great idea, strange lighting. the bright glare through the glass doesn't do much for the composition, nor does your high perspective on the subject. Did you try taking it from closer to the level of the bottle?

Lighting could be better - nice background for the Amaretto though.

The sign is pretty clear, but the glare from the window overpowers much of the image (even the sign). The subject seems to be the toy in the background (see title), but the focus says the sign is the subject. 6 Rob the Swash

Nice cubject, shame you couldnt do anything about the lighting its a bit bright for my liking coming from the right. A sharper focus would have been nice.

Would have better in focus, without the rail across the bottom.

I just want to thank folks that took the time to comment.

The dimness was partially intentional (the title of the photo and the song alike) but the degree was imposed by the camera as there's no way for me to manually adjust shutter speed. I did miss this had visible non-intentional blur -- I was looking at the fingers and less at the keys -- and probably shouldn't have. Alas. Also I probably should give up on this type of shot til I have a better camera, although I thought I'd done a LITTLE better job of capturing it than I ultimately did.

The angle was the one I liked best -- I thought it was more interesting than the straight-on ones -- but I probably would have been better off with the straight-on ones as those involved the camera on a solid surface.

I did have one with blue keys but the resulting noise was intolerable and couldn't be cleaned up, alas.

Well, I'll keep trying. The new camera is slated for late July or early August, at which point I will probably try for another version of this shot just cuz I like the idea enough.
