Catch!by BobsterLobsterComment by Gil P: I think that having replaced the background puts this image outside of the limits of the challenge rules... but it's a great shot |

Catch!by BobsterLobsterComment by _wu_: Did you use neatimage (or something like that)? The pic looks plastic. Too much of the effect to me |

Catch!by BobsterLobsterComment by PhilipDyer: Boy, are you crazy throwing your camera like that? ;-) This is a very dramatic shot with an interesting composition that I like a lot. The only thing that's jarring is that bright blue with horizontal striping through it, which usually indicates a simple gradient fill. Still, the shot came out very nice. |

Fair Sunsetby BobsterLobsterComment by Sonifo: Wow, Bob! This is just awesome! I had to stare for a few minutes to take it all in. WOW!!!
I understand about the space. Still looks good no matter the compression. |

Paradise Parkby BobsterLobsterComment by BobsterLobster: Originally posted by Marjo: The bird portion of this photo is excellent. I gave it a four, though, because of the background. To me, and as usual I'm in the minority, it's obvious that you selected the bird and adjusted the background. The black edges are too sharp around the bird. If you put this up for a print, I'd suggest softening or blending the edges with the smudge tool or an equivalent technique.
I don't mean anything disrespectful to you. It's a great photo. I'm just explaining my lower vote. |
Thanks for explaining... I'm wondering if differences in monitor callibration have an effect here, if anything the selection seems a bit soft to me. |
