It does portray an evening shot.. but it's not particularly interesting to me. Maybe an interesting building in the foreground would help? Something that reaches over the horizon line.. or a tree or something? Just my two cents..

I like the hot feeling there. Nice picture. I would have liked to see the tips on the flames. It's very small for a max of 640 pix.

Hi Rachel, Very interesting location for this pic. Lots of potential for composition here. I am guessing the road and fence is what you’re trying to capture here.
With that dull bit of sky up in the top left I think I would have just left it totally out of the picture. Maybe a square crop with this one might help (and gives the voters a BIGGER picture to look at too). Rotate the pic till the fence runs almost corner to corner, so the frame is filled with fence and road. Then whenever I get a pic with lots of dull green/brown mix I start thinking B&W or really crank up the saturation and contrast give it some POP! Or try a lower perspective shooting from close to the bottom of the fence. This shot could have used a tripod too. I think it is probably a little soft due to some low light (slow shutter speed) and camera shake. Playing with a faster aperture might have helped some too (try shooting in A mode "aperture priority"). It is almost like shooting in auto but give you total creative control over depth of field (DOF) You picked a very interesting location to shoot, this shot just ended up a little soft and kinda flat.

Start posting your exif info too. I will check up on your photos when I have the chance to comment, and the exif would help me to make other suggestions for you. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to PM me. Scott

The angle and density of the shadows detract from the image IMO. I would also have cropped the bottom of the window from the image.

I think a different crop may have looked better here, the front right leg is just cut off a bit
