Contailby gminkComment by Neat: I can see all the distracting elements, but the photo on whole is rather boring. |

Grasshopper feedingby gminkComment by MaryO: Love that one spot of light bokeh, like his own personal sun. Almost looks like a couple of spots of sensor dust on there, but it could be something else. I'd probably clone them out, but that may be a lingering prejudice from too much experience with sensor dust ;-) |

Danger aheadby gminkComment by Paul: Greetings from the Critique Club!
This is a good find for the challenge. Selective desaturation is a tricky techniques, not technically but for knowing when it works. It does work here but it is slightly in-your-face; it draws attention to the flag and thus away from the tracks which are the implicit subjects here.
I like the splintering of the wood in the sleepers but cropping some of the lower part of the image would have give a crisper, and in my view, thus more effective foreground.
Overall, a valiant entry - better than 69th might lead you to believe. |

WTFby gminkComment by pixelpig: Ah, the age-old question: is there enough signage in the world? The answer here is an obvious YES. |

WTFby gminkComment by dtremain: Answer: Yes
Question: Were these signs installed by those new workers from that government make-work program for low income folks?
The signs are great, but the photo has some issues - like too shallow dof, right side and foreground too light, the left side too dark, and glare on the stop sign. I do think that the truck being there adds to the WTF-ishness of the picture. |
