Pitch In! (Inspired by Alan Freed)by kleskiComment by alanfreed: Woo hoo! I inspired someone! :)
Nicely done. This is one of those shots that's more difficult to pull off than people can imagine. It's hard to believe it has been almost six years already! I did the original shot with a little Canon point-n-shoot -- my first digital camera. I can remember spending a whole night fiddling with various ways of doing it.
The one thing I regret is that I rarely get inspired to put that much effort into an entry nowadays. DPC was such a fresh, new thing for me back then, and now I find myself submitting for the sake of submitting, and I haven't been putting the real effort into entries nowadays. Maybe this will give me a gentle nudge in the right direction, reminding me of my "old days" at DPC :) |

Cowboy Beforeby kleskiComment by jpochard: I wish your entry was closer to these colors. I'm not a big fan of the very saturated skies. I would crop this one some, as you did with the entry, but not quite as much. Very nice shot with a real tribute feel to it. Congratulations on a very nice photo. |

One Foot In The Graveby kleskiComment by surfdabbler: This is not a bad image, and many people have voted the striking colours well. For me, the colours are just a little too super-saturated neon, and they lose the natural feel. I'm also not a fan of high contrast, and prefer to see more visible detail in the subject. However, you have done well with your sillhouettes in the past, and I guess for very specific shots, they work well. I guess the difference here is that with the dark sky, the tree is not so visible against the background. Also, a tree as a subject never grabs a viewer like a human silhouette.
As mentioned in other comments, the title is a little odd for this image, and rather than adding a new dimension to a sunset image, it is a mental twist to make the image and the title fit together.
