Little Red Riding Shoehornby Yo_SpiffComment by J-Me: Originally posted by violinist123: This isn't really a shoehorn, the subject of the photo is an obvious attempt to meet the challenge via little red cap/little red riding hood imagery. As one of your fifteen two votes, I can assure you that meeting the challenge is all that kept it from getting a 1 based purely on technical quality lol. Gag shots score well sometimes if they are well shot. I have proof. |
I guess you just don't like "shoehorns" because I've seen other shots do so much better and have NO focus! Dancing Chicken Legs (Ballroom Blitz) was one....way back...gotta go look up that challenge again. It wasn't a shoehorn and it was not well shot. Yet, it did much better. Little Red Riding Shoehornby Yo_SpiffComment by J-Me: Ya know...this was excellently photographed! It made me laugh. I think that the Grimm's challenge was a low scoring challenge to begin with. This certainly didn't deserve The Brown....but, hey......a ribbon is a ribbon! Take it with pride! |

The difference between men and boys is the price of their toysby Yo_SpiffComment by pastortimmr: Haha. Great shot. The funny thing is that your title talks about the price of their toys, but the focus is on the tire/rims (or at least that's what I perceive it to be). With this title, I'd like to see more of the car!!! Either way, not scoring on the title... haha. Great bold colors and nice close crop. The car is nice and the sky is a gorgeous blue. Well done. |

Duck: It's what's for dinner!by Yo_SpiffComment by boyd2000: Hi Steve,
I didn't vote this challenge or even see this until just now. I don't know if you need a critique from someone whose current challenge picture is barely scoring higher than this did, but since you wanted more I'll give you my one cent worth.
As expected here is the critique about the tight crop. It's hard to tell what the two stuffed animals are. The duck especially just looks like a yellow puff with eyes and nose stuck on it, which barely gets you the meets challenge vote. I like the teeth and Rex's eye. It is nice and sharp, thanks to f20, and the foreground coloring is good. Other than that there's not much of interest to hold my attention. The background is just there to be a background but doesn't contribute to it. I guess you have a large house plant by your kitchen table. Maybe a drop of "blood" coming off the tooth would give it punch. |

Duck: It's what's for dinner!by Yo_SpiffComment by Mark-A: Quite a funny take on the challenge, and very nicely cropped and presented.
Not sure what I would have given this had I been voting, it meets the challenge with the duck being upside down so most likely a 6 it is quite nicely shot, although I can't quite make out if there is a yellow cast to this?
