P7120207.jpgby slaaksoComment by Sunniee: What a lovely spot... too bad Im only visiting Maui in Nov..... the lava formations are so interesting... Id love to check that place out and shoot there..... Im happy to see that you straightened the horizon line in this edit... The color is just slightly too saturated for my personal taste. Keep shooting, cant wait to see more :) |

Lily Bee.jpgby slaaksoComment by Sunniee: A lovely shot.... love the colors!! I like the composition.... the flower is off center, but the bee is centered.... creates tension :) nice job! |

Hou to backlight a flower naturallyby slaaksoComment by jaysonmc: Pretty good attempt. I think it needs a bit more depth to get the bee in focus, especially if you are going for an all white background. A terrific score for your first challenge. Hope to see more. |

Spiny Orb Spider1.jpgby slaaksoComment by MelonMusketeer: Interesting and good macro shot. We have the same type of spiders here in Florida. In this area, they are a little smaller than the size in this image. They look spooky, but I have never heard of one biting anyone.
Welcome to DPC. Have fun, learn, share, and don't worry about what anyone says about your images. You know what pleases you when you shoot, and that is what counts in the end. |

Near Donkey Beach Enhanced.jpgby slaaksoComment by slaakso: Originally posted by JeffDay: Nice processing on this, much better than the original, would like to know what you did. |
I used iPhoto 6 and played with the saturation, exposure, tint, temperature, brightness and levels. I tried to recreate it but I guess I am not in the same mindset, as I was, when I worked on it for this edit. I hope this helps.
It seems I didn't save the photo anywhere and the only place this version exists is on the DPC site. |

Hou to backlight a flower naturallyby slaaksoComment by slaakso: Originally posted by vtruan: I'd like to see the natural white petals, but maybe just me. |
I am not sure what white petals you speak of here. I have never seen a 'Hou bush', on Kaua`i, with white petaled flowers. I might be just you in this instance. |
