Great choice of subject. I love the dog meandering by in the foreground. Your depth of field is a little shallow, however, so that the shack isn't in focus while the dog is. Setting your aperature (f stop) a notch or two higher to 5 or 5.6 (or whatever the settings are on your camera)will increase your dof and make your picture sharper front to back. Because you are shooting at sunset, you may need to increase your ISO to 200 or 400 before you can change the aperature. If you already know all that and intended a shallow dof, please excuse my rambling.

I think this shot is actually quite nice... it has a very rustic feel (which I'm guessing you were going for). The composition is ok, if you were going for the leaning water tank, a different camera position that put the tank more in the forefront would have helped (as it stand the tank blends a bit into the building)

over all a nice shot though... good work!

Beautiful shot! I love the perspective and the fact that the posts are all at different angles...makes it that much more interesting. I don't like the metal? post on the right though, I wished it was wooden but I realize you can't change that! Well I guess you could try cropping it out, but I like where you have cropped it.

I agree with shalrath about the halos around the fence just to the right of the corner post (resulting from over sharpening?)..they are distracting in an otherwise perfect composition.

Your sky has what I call "banding" - hard edges that make it look like a contour map, and the shot is OOF. This is a great old building, and surely has some very nice shots in her.

PERFECT DOF. I really like this. It carries a lot of feeling. My only gripe is the little halos around the barbed wire, but otherwise, flawless.

Try a bit of dodge on the dog to make it stand out...as the dog is in focus compared to the rest of the image.

And next time....check your camera gear before your other baggage..lol!!
