Day 14 - Fence lineby BarbBComment by Judi: I think this is fireweed. Very pretty...but not so good for the stock. Good work girl. That equipment suits you. |

Day 14 - Fence lineby BarbBComment by BeckyT: Oh man, I want a fence like that. The color one is nice but the B/W one has a lot of impact. This is really nice it leaves me speechless (or typeless). This is fantastic. |

Day 18 - Planerby BarbBComment by glad2badad: He-he. One of my past subjects here as well. :) I do a little woodworking on the side, but I'll spare you the image thumbs this time. :P
I like the color tone you've selected for an antique type feel. Including the wood shavings in the composition is a good move to add context. Only thing I might have done differently is in the arrangement of the background. If possible I'd have tried to have a continuous piece of material run from the planer all the way out to the edge of the photo frame.
Overall, nicely done. |

Day 17 - Abandoned Buildingby BarbBComment by glad2badad: This is certainly an interesting place. I imagine there are numerous photo op's here if it's close to home.
My first impression when I opened this is it's dark and a bit dreary. Not sure if it was really that overcast or if the photo is just underexposed...
What focal length of your 100-400 did you use? Sometimes in trying to tell a story with a photo it's easy to try and take too much in with the composition. If you had range left you could isolate some of the interesting features of this location and go for some tighter comps.
Anything there to stand on? The top of the water tank is blending with the roof line. A slight change to your POV could help make it stand out more (either higher or lower).
Can you get closer to that fence? Maybe include some foreground grass of interest with the building in the background?
All JMO of course. :D
Regarding the border...
I think there's a tutorial on that subject here on DPC. Yep...just looked. ==> Borders and Text
Sometimes I'll do it this way; finish the image work, resize to 620, border 1px white, border 9px black. Now I'm at 640 for challenge entry.
Anyway. Enough babbling on my part. Smile and keep having fun! :) |

Day 14 - Fence lineby BarbBComment by bs-photos: What a great fence! I really like the composition & the field of flowers or weeds, whatever they are, make for an excellent foreground & background! |
