The background is very busy and for me makes this image feel a little cluttered. Perhaps a different DOF?

thank you so much for your kind comment on my photo! I can understand that this girl here is special and that she's stolen your heart. They are amazing in their own way :)

I think you did great in this photo of her. It shows the special band you two have, I can see that in the way she looks in the camera.

Beautiful. Cherish!

For me, the background overpowers the subject.

It's a nice shot but I keep thinking how it would look in colour...

Nice picture but I think for this challenge there are a few things that voters may vote down for.
1. This is B&W and there is an argument that a B&W is not a Duotone image. This could be argued for weeks and I doubt that an agreement would be reached.
2. The shadow on the animal's face means we are drawn to the tree at the right and not to the animal, which we should be.
3. I feel the shadow is also hiding the area in the image that is sharpest. Overall the image feels soft and lacking sharpness but from what I can tell the focus is on the little fellas face - we just can't tell due to the shadows.
4. The border seems wrong. The top and left are against the edge of the image but what happened to the bottom and right? I find the best way to add a border is to resize your image smaller than the final size and then increase the canvas size with the border colour.

As an image goes it is good, I'd vote is middle of the road on it's own merits, the lighting is the biggest issue for me. You may also like to try a portrait crop that covers the left half of the image as that may direct viewers to the animal more.
