Tres_Amigosby hotrollComment by Bud: cute shot, the fact that the face of the last girl is hidden works against the image. |

Stroll along the Ohioby hotrollComment by hotroll: Yes, the pelican is a statue modeled after a John James Audubon painting. I was about 3 feet from the statue and 30 feet from the sidewalk that my family was walking on. I thought about cropping out the pelican, but it was by definition, a "silhouette". Then I looked above it's head and the tree branches formed a heart shape. I knew it probably would be picked on by some, but I still love the shot. Maybe too busy, but a "silhouette".
I have several other photos that I took for this competiton that might have scored higher, but the lighting on the tree and the family was too good not to share. Message edited by author 2007-09-26 09:54:14. |

Stroll along the Ohioby hotrollComment by posthumous: I love the confusion of scale. This gets more fascinating the longer I look at it. Probably just a statue of a bird, huh? too bad. This seemingly haphazard composition holds together very well. |

Stroll along the Ohioby hotrollComment by Jutilda: I like the idea of this. If it were mine, I'd crop to the left of the lamp post and to the right of the tree trunk, creating more of a vignette and not so many busy shapes. Does that make sense? As it is, there is no place for the eye to rest and it seems a bit cluttered. I wish the silhouettes were a touch more crisp. |

Stroll along the Ohioby hotrollComment by Donna21: The pelican (a statue?) throws it off for me. It's nicely framed, but turns the photo into a cross between a nursery rhyme and a Japanese horror movie. Too bad, because otherwise this shot is beautiful. |
