Well exposed, focus is good, clearly centred but lack any real interest.

Nice high contrast shot. It perhaps could do with a little more contrast I think.

I probably would have focussed on a smaller section of branches. There are almost too many branches in the shot so that the ones on the smaller tree are barely discernible. Although to be honest, that's the resolution of DPC for you.

karmat is right, it's very slightly tilted as well.

But I do like it on the whole, and I like the title - snow in March for crying out loud. We had a couple of inches on Easter Sunday.

To yospiff - the loss of detail/compresion is because this was a very tight crop.

I'm actually surprised no one called me out on it - it's a very small piece of a shot taken at the end of my zoom on a very dark evening.

I only have a couple of comments not too much of a critique.

I would've probably opted for a complete B&W with this type of photo. The coloring in the buildings is a little distracting for me and I think it would enhance the trees a bit more.

The other is your type of border. I didn't even see it at first but I like it a lot. I can tell that IT IS a border but I can still follow the image clear to the edge of the frame. Ok, that last sentance sounds kind of lame but I'm serious that I do like it.

I think the only thing that I would've maybe done a bit differently (only in my opinion) is the B&W; other than that, "Great photo" and we'll both go for 7's in April! -BB

I really like the busy-ness of this shot. There is alot to look at, and it is almost possible to get lost in the mire of all the branches. That said, while I like it, there are probably some who didn't.

I think the overall effect of the shot is good. The elements work together in a balanced composition and offer a lot for the viewer to look at. In a competition like dpc, though, simple shots seems to do better. Whether that is good bad is a personal thing, but I suspect all the "stuff" in the shot may have attributed to some of the lower votes.

The only other little nit pick is that it feels tilted to the right a touch. That could easily be me, though -- sometimes I think my eyes are crooked. :)

Overall, a nice shot, and personally, I like the high contrast

Check your JPEG compression settings. A visible loss of detail here from excessive compression, also evidenced by a file size of only 25k.

I really like the overall look of this photo, there is a lot of detail in the branches that really jumps out at me. It's not clear to me what the subject is in this photo. It's a very busy photo. When first looking at it my eye jumps to the upper left of the photo and all of the branches. I then think, that's not the subject and my eyes jump to the tree trunk, then to the park benches then to the building. Through all of this I'm never sure what the subject is so my eyes start darting around again. So I think a tighter crop would be better to eliminate some of the competing elements.

The lighting is great and it really captures the feel of a snowy scene like this.

Going back to the branches on the upper left they almost look too sharp. If the photo was just that I would think somebody had done an emboss filter on them. It looks a little unnatural, although I'm guessing it's just because of the density of tree branches in that area.

I like the photo overall but as I said above think it could be improved by highligting a central subject.
