Fur-and-Iceby lshuppComment by choltmeier: If this was taken in the wild I'd give you extra credit! Nice photo but I'd like it better if the subject weren't smack in the center of the frame. Also, it would have been nice to catch the bear looking at the camera. His/her gaze downward doesn't add anything for me. |

Eyes of a Wolfby lshuppComment by LalliSig: Greetings from the critique club :)
I like this shot, it´s right up my alley in regards to sharpness, colors and contrast. It´s maybe even a little oversharpened so you might want to just slightly ease off whatever sharpening you used but it´s not something that is bothering me, just thought I´d mention it.
I see this is your first entry so this looks promising, definately keep entering challenges. One thing though, this is just a theory but I kindof get the feeling that DPC are slowly becoming bored of "zoo" photos, photos of animals that look like they are taken at the local zoo and instead want wildlife photos that show a bit of the surroundings so it´s obviously shot in the wilderness. Just look at Alex´s ribbon winning shot in Rural Landscape. Even though that was shot in London, it still looks like it wasn´t and that probably helped his score a whole lot, that and that the photo of course kicked ass. Your shot looks a bit effortless and the average DPC voter will reward photos that look like they took a lot of effort or are apparently of a once in a lifetime moment.
Anyway, looks like you got the technicals down so just keep at it and you´ll fit in nicely here.
Kind regards from Iceland, Lárus. |
