Wow...great character study. Perfect, spot on focus, fabulous DOF. Might have cropped slightly closer on each side, but this is a terrific portrait no matter what. Deserves a nice expensive frame and a place on someone's wall.

now this subject has so much more potential, too me it just lacks the pop and depth. I hope you don't take this wrong, but you really had a winner here if it weren't quite so flat an with perhaps a bit of different composure.

I think going in closer would create more impact, as would a portrait orientation - the space at the two sides adds nothing.
