1,784,394 Parallelsby ellamayComment by TooCool: Hmmmmm....I only count 1,784,382... But seriously, your shot seems vey well composed, but very flat. Taken at a different time of day, with the light and shadow emphasizing the textures, would make this pop a lot more!

Water Gardening Magazineby ellamayComment by cbonsall: (I'm writing this to everyone who submitted a landscape shot) The challenge was to produce a shot worthy of a magazine cover but to me a shot like this is not suitable to be put on a "portrait" format magazine.
As for the photo itself, I love waterfall pics wiht a bit of blur on the flowing water.
---ADDITIONAL---
Due to forum discussions and accusations that marking landscapes down is nitpicking, I'm going through them and remarking. I still think some of the landscapes would not make good covers because of their orientation but I am no longer marking down because of that.
I still think landscape is inapropriate for the majority of magazines but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the photographers. |

1,784,394 Parallelsby ellamayComment by obstetrify: I counted them and I got a different result. Never mind. You have found just the right viewpoint. I don't suppose there are too many cityscapes with quite that number of parallels. |

Water Gardening Magazineby ellamayComment by jpochard: This shot looks tilted to the right. I would straighten it. The concrete wall really adds nothing to the shot. Although I think the lighting is less than ideal, I think the shot could be helped a lot simply by cropping this to a portrait layout, focusing in on the waterfall and leaving out the concrete wall. |

A Manby ellamayComment by zeuszen: Excellent, true portraiture of this (apparently) benevolent clan lord. What a great character and subject!
The extraordinary crisp presence here, I believe, is helped by the pervasive darkness of all but the face and hat. The background adds much, IMO, via its deeply rich and diffused colours reminiscent of the Dutch masters.
The quiet, joyful dignity communicated by this transporting portrait is astounding and memorable indeed. |
