A damn nice shot with everything you would ever want - great focus, great dof, great colors - and action. However, when you have a white and grey bird, with black rocks, and lots of white refection on the water and greyscale it - it still looks like a normal picture when shown to someone that doesn't know it's been desaturated. had you gone for a really close crop of just the bird's head and his lunch it may have worked fine.

Good picture and good subject. I'm gonna assume the grain is purposeful to give it a "paper" feel. I like the composition. I might try cropping the top down some, and maybe just a wee bit off the left, but not enough to lose the "thirds".

A bit too grainy and there's too much space - I think it would look better with either a bit of top or left side cropped out. This is an excellent newspaper-ish photograph. Kudos!

Very nice. The photo has relevence to the moment and it is also interesting as a portrait of a particular environment. I like the generous cropping and square format. I like the haze in the background. This is only the second photo I've looked at in this challenge. It was a nice treat.

Yes, I would definitely see this in a newspaper. I also think that the amount of grain fits with the "newspaper" theme. The focus could be better though, nice composition...9
