Comment by Brad:
The green background would have been ok if it were a bit lighter and not so noisy. This is the better of the two edits as they are.

Polarizer ?
PS levels adjustments have fits when polarizers are used.

Comment by Brad:
This one is a bit washed-out in my opinion, lacking in contrast, but I know with these colors, it can be really touchy. try this:

In PS, re-open this and go to Image, Adjustments, Levels, then click the Options button on the bottom of the right side. That will open a pop-up for auto-color correction options. Check and set the following: Enhance Per Channel Contrast checked, and down at the bottom, in the Target Colors & Clipping, type in 0.50 in both boxes, then hit Save as Default. Just that alone made a big difference in the levels of the image without the delicate colors taking a hit. Using the levels, options is almost always one of my first steps in post-processing and the defaults I gave you are a widely accepted better settings than PS is set up with.

Comment by Brad:
This one I'm having trouble with. It's harsh and maybe due to the time of day, the lighting & shadows are killing it.

Oh wow - I've never seen one of these before. I have a soft spot (ok, the pun was intended) for the fuzzy botanicals.

Very nice color levels here. This is such a hard color palette to work with - red is a booger, and you did quite well with this one!

Excellent choice for a black & white. The shadows add so much to the mood here.
