I would have liked just a skosh more depth of field.

Comment by Paul:
I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This image demonstrates great toning and the border is very well matched. The overall subject matter put a smile on my face and the execution is very good. The very narrow depth of field isolating the ducky, emphasising the texture in the carpet while ensuring the background clutter is steeped in mystery! In my eye the bulk above and to the right of the duck is a sleeping dog!

Critical stuff: The still discernible vertical and horizontal lines in the background are a little out of kilter - perhaps this was to emphasise the lack of stability in the duck's reckless wheeled endeavour.

Overall: An image I have enjoyed - thanks for offering it up.

Thanks Sara, I am sorry to hear of your loss, how strange it was on the same day.

Mike, I hope you are beginning to come to terms with your Dad's passing. It is a very hard time, I know; my Mum also died on the 8th January this year. This is a wonderful portrait.
