the object in the background is my computer chair. the idea was that most of my "travelling" is done virtually. on the web i've been around the world in back. using my own two feet i haven't really ventured outside of my own province. originally i took the photo with the shoes in focus. but the point was the shoes aren't used much. that's why they are sitting on the floor abandon and lonely. so i took a few with them out of focus and then mussied the picture up a little. it kind of give me that long lost memory feeling. thanks for all the feedback though.

I looked at this picture for a long time and the more I looked at it, the more I started to like it. While the shoes are out of focus, the object in the background is...I can't quite figure out exactly what it is. I'm thinking perhaps part of a stadium seat. Am I right or even close? I'm trying to think of a symbolic reasoning for the shoes to be OOF, but can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps they are set aside for some activity that can't be seen beyond the "seat". I'm not sure if you meant the picture to be grainy, but I think if it were cleaned up, it would look a lot better. A program called Neat Image would clean that up nicely. A free demo is available on the internet for download, if you are interested. In any event, for my peaked interest in this photo, I gave you a 6. Good luck in the challenge.

I think the focus here works, but the objects in the background draw my attention, as they are in focus. I think a white background would do nicely here IMO
