I love this idea, it's simple and elegant. The only problem I can see is the choice to put the darker, older coins at the back. It almost gives the illusion that the light simply faded as it goes back rather than them actually aging.

Thanks for the comments. Now I've seen the other entries I can see why my picture didn't do too well. A couple of you didn't seem to think this was painting with light. Well, it was lit with a single touch that I moved from the front to the rear and behind the train in the 25 seconds the shutter was open. So it was certainly painting with light but not in such an obvious or creative way as the winning entries.
