Interesting shot, out could perhaps use some different lighting to better draw attention to the grasshopper. There is also some odd effect visible to me in the fore- and background of the shot. (Not a direct result of a shallow DOF). It appears as though there is perhaps a bit too much processing in those areas, perhaps too much smoothing or blur... it looks quite grainy and pixelated, and there is some 'ringing' around the sharper edges. The center of the shot is very crisp and sharp, however.

Beautiful job!!! For this challenge the contrast is minimal though. I would give you a 10 for camouflage, or nature, or green, but the main subject is supposed to be contrast. I'm usually very open-minded in my voting, but this picture really isn't about contrast. So I feel compelled to give you half that. 5
Keep up the great work, and in future challenges, it would be best to stick with the challenge subject. I understand why you'd want to show this though. It's beautiful.

This is a particularly interesting photo. I really like the detail. I'm struggling with the 'contrast' theme. I'm assuming that the contrast you are trying to show here is 'plant / animal' possibly. This is a valid contrast, but the all-green nature of the photo itself seems to overpower any theme of 'contrast' that you may be trying to convey with this photo. If I was viewing this photo outside the context of this particular challenge, 'contrast' would be one of the very last things that came to mind if I was asked to describe the theme of this photo.
