Comment by GregoryB:
Beautiful swamp lily. The flowers are really accentuated by the deep green background.

I recognized it as a lily by the single stalk and multiple flowers. Seeing the location where it was shot led me to find that it was in a swamp. Hmmmm, swamp lily? Sure enough.

Very pretty subject for this flower side challenge. One of the flowers is a little blown out in the highlights. That is hard to avoid when you have such a wide range of lighting as you had in front of you here. Not much could be done once the shot had been taken, but maybe you could recognize this situation in the future and either shade the flower or move it a little so that either all or none of it is in direct sunlight. I very often use my tripod to move water lilies that are just beyond my reach while I take the shot using one hand to hold the camera.

Comment by Teafran:
It often hard to understand why certain choices are made when submitting images for competition. In this case, it's even more odd because of the excellant large floral component contrasting with the little and largely undetailed bee. The over whelming green background and foreground is perfectly controlled and the offset flower is artistically pleasing but the large and small comparision is automatically made and the eye tracks to the larger object. Technically a terrific image for any other type of flora challenge. Originally rated a 5 for the above stated reasons, it has been rerated a 6 for it's technical competance.

Your background could be the inverted, zoomed, bokeh of your friend there. Well thought and tricky on the eye.
