I hate flag shots and I hate solidier portraits because often they are so poorly done. But this is excellent! I like it how the face pops out from between the flags, the elements in the photo work together and help to tell the tale. B&W is very suitable here.

Im not sure whethet B/W is the best choise here. However the image has power but I feel a little more contrast would really lift this

My pick of the challenge. I think this is a Setzler but I can't recally exactly. Says a lot about youth, power, authority and responsibilities. His peeking out behind the symbol of authority into the world is very well portrayed here. Nicely done.

I rated this for a (bronze) ribbon, John. Alas, I feel there is too much fixation on technical "perfection" and not enough on challenge context and creativity. This image is a whole lot better as a memorable candid photograph than almost all of the shots that placed higher. Yet 24 people rated it less than 5! I am about to submit my own first entry. I guess I'll get hammered. Best wishes. Paul.
