Greetings from Hickory NCby jmsetzlerComment by DigiPique: LOL at this! Would the esteemed member from Hickory so identify his work? Doubtful ... If not his work, is this a blatant attempt by someone else to trade on his reputation? Maybe ... Either way, I like the witty inclusion of 'that apple', the way my attention is then drawn to the only other red object ... excuse me, I'll be right back ... |

Greetings from Hickory NCby jmsetzlerComment by Willa: Eww.... an apple on a urinal! YUK! Excellent photographic composition, in my honest opinion, though. Nasty. Daring and wonderful at the same time! |

Greetings from Hickory NCby jmsetzlerComment by jedacadie: Too bad for the red thingy in the bottom of the urinal... takes away from the beautiful red apple. Does this mean that you spend lots of time peeing or are you an urologist ;P? |

Greetings from Hickory NCby jmsetzlerComment by chariot: LOL nice one John. I'm not sure if this is the same one on Photosig or not because I never noticed the apple there before. That is great tie in to the other pic. |

Greetings from Hickory NCby jmsetzlerComment by Gordon: Easily the best entry - I love the deep evocative feel of this, how it could be anyone's corner of the world yet you've made it your own. The religious iconography held within the apple speaks volumes to the soul of both the photographer and viewer and really brings me into this piece of work. Obviously the symbolism of the red and white together combine to remind us of the suffering and bloodshed in the world while the white porcelin represents the bones of all the poor innocents. The cross, towering over the symbol of Eden evidently shows how Christ died for the original sins commited in the first garden and you've very cleverly included the symbolism of the snake, just by association in this context. The more I look at this, the more I get from the obviously startling amount of thought and preparation that has been placed in the composition and elements that have been selected. The very choice of a urinal, where the water washes away the sins, like an original baptism is inspired, along with the dual metaphor of the water turning into the wine coloured strainer at the bottom - again a clear signal of the power represented within this landmark image. This is a wonderfully emotive picture reminding us of the suffering going on in the world and how your corner, my corner and everyone's corner is part of the same group conciousness. If I could give it an 11 I would (10) After a second review, I don't think this meets the challenge so I've revised my score (1) |
