Evolutionby jmsetzlerComment by GeneralE: Beautiful job with the detail in the dark tones. I'm not usually that big a fan of the blurred-water look, but it goes well with the sharply-defined rocks. |

Evolutionby jmsetzlerComment by lecalan: I am revisiting this photo. The title doesn't tell me anything about where you live and I can't tell from the picture. The photo is neat, though, so I'll raise my vote. I like the water effect. B/W is nice and so is composition. Overall: 7 |

Gaiaby jmsetzlerComment by jmsetzler: Originally posted by Rasai: John, I was looking at the technical details & noticed that the subject distance is listed at "665M" which would be 2148.95 feet, using a 60mm focal length. That can’t be right; I must not be interpreting this correctly? |
I'm not quite sure about that either. The lens I used for this photo is the only one in my collection that produces this value in the exif data. I think it simply uses this number when the focus is at infinity rather than something less.

I wondered if the spot in the waterfall you mention was just to the lower left of ‘Gaia’? |
No.. It was on the right hand side of the frame that has been cropped out in this composition.

Having learned about the 'Rule of 3rd's' (in an excellent tutorial on this site), I envisioned that it may have placed her too close to the center/top of the composure had you included just enough of the waterfall to see it culminate in the pool. |
I cropped off the right side instead of the left. I composed this shot intending to make the final version square and take out the pool of water at the bottom.

I also wondered if that would have led my focus away from her. I’ll take a look at your site to see if it is there. I hope to learn more about composure/cropping and to see how you worked your magic on it? This was one of my 2 favorites in this challenge. Having just taken another look at your site I see it and the other picture(s) of the Waterfall. Is there something on the left that is ‘unsightly’? In any event I look forward to your photos, comments and knowledge shared! Tim |
There is nothing unsightly anywhere in this particular composition. This version will become part of my own collection. I like this one better than the square version. I have more plans for this model at this waterfall when the weather warms up a little more. She's very cooperative and enjoys being photographed. |

Evolutionby jmsetzlerComment by bormic: I like much: The B&W for this gives great contrast. The long shotting time.
I like less: The dark zone in the middle left.
