I don't personally approve of the use of animals in a circus (that's what this looks like, my apologies if I'm mistaken) but that aside, the shot isn't very good quality in general; nothing is in clear focus, it's quite noisy, most of the details have been lost through movement and the blown highlights. The motion is a little bit interesting but this is a low-scorer for me, I'm afraid.

Personally not really fond of the processing of this image. Overdone for my liking.

Hey David!

I didn't comment on this one during challenge but wanted to revisit. You did a great job with the set up. Posing is awesome and you got great diffuse natural lighting with a nice uncluttered background. Three great elements for a good portrait. Looking at the camera info, I would suggest bumping up the ISO so you can get a shutter speed to come close to matching your focal length. For instance, 1/50 for a 50mm focal length, 1/125 for a 100mm focal length, etc. The reason is to eliminate camera shake.

I see you shot this at 1/10 and I am assuming it was hand held. That is more than likely why it looks out of focus. It is really camera shake. I have learned that the lowest I can shoot handheld is like 1/50 to 1/60 seconds at any focal length under 50mm. Once I get into the 1/40 or 1/30 range at any focal length under 50mm, it gets shaky and looks out of focus.

Now if I can just implement the things I learn when it comes time to take a picture...

Beautiful portrait, filled with life and love. How a family portrait ought to be, but rarely is at least to this splendid level. Thank you (and I bet they thanked you, too).

Great to see a generation portrait. Seems a bit cold for the subject though.
