Nice concept, It seems to work well, however I wouldn't have gone center frame, something more 1/3 would have been nice.

There's a rule I've always heard about photography: Closer, closer, and then closer. I think this image could have benefited from that rule. To much bare featureless sand in comparison to the really interesting colored beach houses. Maybe move in close with just a touch of sand on the bottom of the frame to establish location with the houses occupying the majority of the frame. Also quality of light could help this image. Very early in the AM or late in the PM. In fact if the houses have electric light you could set your camera to tungsten white balance and shoot right before darkness in the gloaming. Then the lights and what colors they lit would be vary warm with a cool dark blue sky in the background. I'm a day late and a dollar short for the 300th comment prize. But your runner up prize is quite nice.

the orange/yellow is a bit strong in this, I think. It does contrast nicely with the blue, though.

Very nice perspective. I like the full focus on the foreground right through to the background. Keep up the creative thinking.
