Off Center Barnby KneeforuComment by adine: The barn really pops out of this misty background. Wish it were a bit more of a traditional looking barn - the architecture is odd to me, and the bold lettering distracts from the quiet feel of the barn and field subject. But the barn off center, surrounded by fields and trees and sky works well for me. |

Off Center Barnby KneeforuComment by FranziskaLang: Fits the challenge, don't you just hate it when the weather doesn't cooperate with those bright blue skies when you want them? One of the ways to minimize that impact is to include less sky in the photo. In this case especially, unless there's something in the foreground that prevents you from doing it, I would've included more of the grooves in the field and less of the sky (even if it was blue) to add more texture and interest. |

Off Center Barnby KneeforuComment by alanfreed: Nice! I like farm shots. I might have tried boosting the saturation just a teeny bit to bring out the red a little more, but still a very nice shot. |

Off Center Barnby KneeforuComment by DavidLevin: This photo doesnt have much appeal, theres a sign on a barn. if it was taken from a different angle, say, next to the barn with the camera tilted upwards, that would be more visually pleasing. also why was this photo taken in such weather conditions? you should have waited until there was a sunny day and taken the photo then at around sunrise or sunset. also another subject may have added to the effect of the photo say a rooster or chicken. 4 |

Great job with your choice of subject. It really does say "sound" to me (though that may be because I am married to a guitarist). I think what makes this shot unique is that you perservered to get the vibration of the string, and that could not have been an easy task. Oddly enough, I think that was the best string to choose because any of the others would not have seemed so balanced to me.
Your lighting on this is wonderful. You catch the nice "tone" of the wood, and this helps to add to the "sound" element of the guitar because I can just imagine the "warm" sound of the instrument.
I like that the strings are not at a straight vertical, but rather at a slight angle. This makes the shot more dynamic, I think (no pun intended).
It seems to need just a bit wider cropping/framing, but I'm not sure without actually seeing it.
Great work and best of luck in future challenges. |
