I'd be willing to bet that a lot of folks aren't going to like this shot. I however love it. I'm sure you will get omments like "snap-shottish" but I am going to say...yes, there is an element of snap-shot, an element of the candid. But they are all add up to capture someone in their environment. The environment defines the subject and tells us something about her and she is doing what she does within that environment. Well done.

Cute! I like the composition, but a) there seems to be a bit of a motion blur, and b) I would have manipulated the DOF to include the emu (unless the blurriness is just more motion blur?), as he is as important to the portrait as the woman is. Since the bushes behind are more in focus than the emu, you probably would have been safe to focus on the emu, then both of them would have been within the DOF. Also, a slightly softer expression on her face would have made the portrait easier to stay looking at.

This looks a bit backfocused; I see good defiition on the bushes and ferns behind the subject, but the beak and eye of the emu are a bit soft.
