Well, you can do that. My thinking lately is, if it looks cool, it will probably take cool pictures. I go to the junk stores and happily pass up most of what's there -- mass-produced cameras with popular brand names (Vivitar, Kodak, Keystone, etc.). If it doesn't look special, I don't bother.
The Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim is kind of an exception to this. If you weren't looking for it, you (or I) would pass it up. But it's got a super wide 22mm lens, and does some neat tricks with distortion and flare. As such, it's acquired a cult following since it was discontinued (see the Flickr group and two clones that it's inspired). I got tired of waiting to find one, and bought this one on eBay for about twenty bucks. I've seen them go as high as fifty and even a hundred dollars -- laughable if you could hold the thing in your hand.

St. Mary Of The Mountby bvyComment by salmiakki: Love the colours. I am really enjoying the variety. I just wish we had some labs that still handled film here in Tampere where I live and that I didn't have to send them away to Helsinki. It takes far too long. |
