Don't we all wish we could just chop it. Nice composition with the newspaper, but I wish there wasn't a black triangle in the llc.

I'd like to offer a little insight as to why someone might feel this is worth a 1 or 2 or 3 (even if I did not give this score). The idea and the composition are pretty good, but the image is lacking technically. Some people on dpc feel that if you're lacking in technics on your shot, it doesn't deserve higher than a 5. There's a short list of small stuff that could be improved upon...some of which I already mentioned in my previous comment. The lighting isn't bad and I wouldn't change too much about it except to make it a little tiny bit more towards the back to get rid of the glare on the berry (you can use a reflector or white cardboard to get some of the excess light to fall on the front of the picture) You might want to check the white balance on your camera before you shoot like crazy (it looks a bit yellow.. not major and you can probably fix it in photoshop or whichever program you use). Helping the lighting out a little and checking the exposure (it is a bit dark) will help the saturation of your picture a little too since it is undersaturated right now. I would use the unsharp mask on this at a lower level since it doesn't look really sharp (minor fix). And just make sure if you dont have a strawberry with a nice green top, to try and hide the drying out brown part by tilting the berry a bit further back. All in all I like your picture and this is why I decided to come back and leave a lengthier comment (i am not part of the critique club)however I think you're lucky to have gotten 15th because voters are usually a whole lot harsher. Congrats!

Wow, I'm really surprised this didn't place higher. I just wanted to say this was my favorite of the photos I'd seen and while I suppose 15th out of 202 is not a bad place (top 10%!) I liked this considerably more than the winners (no offense to the winners).

Also, who the HECK voted this a 1? They're on CRACK. Heck, even the 2s and 3s I don't really get.

Nice idea. The lighting seems a bit harsh, though.

mmmm...yummy!! <-- my first reaction. These are the kind of photo shoots you love, where you can eat the props afterward! :) I like the lighting on your subject, there are no weird shadows, and the chocolate looks marvelous!

Oh yum! Now I want this. THANKS. There are a few stray reflections from the lighting, but otherwise this is great. I like the way the chocolate is flipped over on top.

Look, I'm producing some liquid of my own! *wipes drool away*

Wow. That's, um, EXTREMELY appetizing-looking. Well-framed, good close-up shot, nice that the chocolate is dripping from the bottom to help emphasize it's in liquid form. The fork is nicely non-intrusive. My only complaint here is I don't get any. Oh, and the border's a touch distracting.

Sharp photo and a cute idea (hits home for me!) I think I see why the newspaper (stock market?), but maybe the help wanted section would have driven this home better. Low "art", more centered on office supplies. Very little "WOW" for me. 7 Rob the Swash

IMO opinion it may have looked better if the scissors and note were on a full newspaper background instead of having this big black space showing. But a nice idea and a nice title to go with it. Good luck
