Darkness&Lightby anna-mComment by Mephisto: the lighting and crop stood out in this one!
great shot and congrats on the top 20, keep it up!
btw i'm amazing how you got such a good result in a studio shot with just a compact cam...how did you fire your strobe? |

Darkness&Lightby anna-mComment by anna-m: Thanks for comments!
Since aKiwi already commented maybe there is no need for this, but...it seems for some of you the image is too silhouetted and for others it looks like side lighting rather than backlighting?
I forgot to write photographer's comments so here they are - black background, one softbox directly next to it (~20 cm behind), body is slightly turned toward the light so it doesnt become silhouette.
Its just a low key photo, if I used reflector or another light the caracter of the image would change.
aKiwi thank you for encouraging words! (took a look at your profile - there are some great images in it) |

Darkness&Lightby anna-mComment by aKiwi: Congratulations on 13th place.
It's amazing how many people mistake this for side lighting.
People! In order to get this sort of picture the light has to be behind the model. It only appears to be from the side as it is just out of the picture.
A great photo. |

Darkness&Lightby anna-mComment by aKiwi: Beautiful lowkey. This type of photo is normally my speciality.
Looses a point for becoming a shilouette which was not allowed in the description. 7 |

Darkness&Lightby anna-mComment by outland: I really like the way the light really draws the model. I like the contrast between the texture of the necklace and the model's skin. 10. |

Darkness&Lightby anna-mComment by tvsometime: Mostly darkness however. Doesn't capture the Renaissance meaning of darkness and light (ciaroscuro) and lacks the foreground detail as specified for the challenge. Nice B&W of delicious lines and female forms, but I give a 5 for being off topic. |
